Pics from last year's missions trip I went on w/ my Church to the Dominican Republic.
Yep, I took off the ones of the concert. Freeservers is messing up and won't let me have more than one picture page all of a sudden. Anyways, I put these pictures up, just cuz I had them, and cuz my Church is going back to the Dominican Republic this summer and I'm planning on going. This will be my third year in a row of going (if I can raise the money), and even though it costs a crapload of money, it's worth it. Anyways, we were in La Vega the year these pictures were taken (Jarabacoa the year before), and we'd mostly do stuff like a mini-VBS, open-air concerts/services, construction work to help out the missionaries, we even put on a medical clinic one day. When I went in the summer of '98 we were working ourselves like slaves, so on this trip we made time to relax. Every other night we'd meet and just sing, have a lesson, and talk about stuff we were learning or whatever else (then hang out till they made us go to bed). We also went out for ice cream and played pool and stuff some nights with some friends we had made the year before. The whole trip was ten days, so on the last day, we'd go to the beach and buy souveniers and stuff. I typed more at the bottom. Sorry, for the poor quality of these pictures.

What we were doing is leveling out the dirt. It had to be even on all sides w/ the bottom of the pillars. It was major work, and I had to quit about an hour or two early just cuz I got burned so bad.

There was plenty of room on the bus, but we preferred the breeze from hanging off the truck. That and being the center of attention w/ all these Dominicans wondering who these dirty white people were and why they were hanging off a truck. This is one of the Dominicans who we hung out w/ alot - Emelia Marte Marte. In my opinion, she was one of the coolest and most gorgeous, out of all the girls (and guys) we hung out with. And in her opinion, I was cool too and the best looking, so to all the guys who were drooling over Sonia... =P I got a 21 year old!

I never met these guys (I don't speak Spanish). They just saw me snap a picture of their friend Junior and wanted to be in one. It was in this building, during my first year in the DR ('98) that we saw a tarantula on the wall and watched a guy kill it.

This picture was taken from Guaco Church. It was one of the most gorgeous places we were at the whole time. This Church is where Sonia, Emelia, Gissell, and Yaneli are all from.

I almost forgot.... the self-proclaimed pimp, Joe. Ask me if you wanna hear some hilarious stories involving this guy. No, I can't be mean like this. He tried and, cheesy as he may have sounded when talking about it, he learned alot on the trip.

In another month or so I'm going on a youth retreat at Atlanta and should have pictures from that.
